Raja Ampat had been high on our bucket list for years! This archipelago in West Papua is also called The Last Paradise on Earth, and for good reason! A visit to this little paradise requires some effort. Not only is the journey there quite an undertaking, but luxury is scarce and if it is there at all, it comes with a hefty price tag.
Raja Ampat exceeded all our expectations, and believe us, they were very high! Yes, it is a bit basic and/or a bit more expensive, but it is a destination like no other. Not only because of the crystal clear waters, breathtaking coral and beautiful dive sites found here, but also because of the ruggedness, simplicity and tranquility you experience here! You may share the beaches, dive sites and accommodations with a handful of people, but often you are there all alone. The locals lead a simple life and contribute to the preservation of this pristine piece of paradise. Here you won’t find luxury beach bars or fancy hotels, but rather eco-resorts and homestays in particular!
