The most charming campsites in Gallipoli
Gallipoli, how wonderful you were. We stayed here for a total of 9 days, which is something we rarely do. Gallipoli has a charming old town, it’s located right by the sea, and it’s the perfect base for exploring more of Puglia. Most campgrounds in the area are also open year-round.
For the first few days, we stayed at the cozy Camper Parking Area New Horizons, just slightly outside the city center but very close to the beach. The remaining days, we decided to be closer to the center and stayed at Agricampeggio & Glamping Torre Sabea. Both campgrounds come highly recommended.
Camper Parking Area New Horizons
Camper Parking Area New Horizons is a small family campsite nestled in nature. The campsite is perfect for nature lovers and those seeking peace and tranquility. It is located approximately 8 km from the city, and you can cycle a long way along the boulevard. The campsite is small and cozy, with basic but very clean facilities. We found the surroundings to be truly beautiful. Plus, the beach, Spiaggia di Punta della Suina, is within walking distance or a short bike ride away for lazy people like us ;p.
We found cycling to the city a bit too far. In terms of distance, it’s manageable, but the roads are poorly lit. That’s why we often decided to go to the city with the camper. It worked fine, except that not all areas are accessible for campers. We once accidentally took the wrong turn and got stuck in narrow streets. Not recommended.
This cozy family campground is definitely a recommendation if you enjoy tranquility. Besides some playful kittens, there wasn’t much going on. When we were there, there was no one else around. Occasionally, a camper would arrive late in the evening for a night, but that was about it. After 4 days on our own, we felt it was time to have more people around us.
Agricampeggio & Glamping Torre Sabea
Camping Torre Sabea is a larger and busier campsite compared to New Horizons. During our stay, the campsite was completely full, even in the middle of October during the pandemic. It had a different vibe, but we enjoyed it after a few days of tranquility. The pitches are still reasonably spacious and the facilities are fine. The campsite has a charming appearance and offers additional amenities such as a shuttle bus, bread service, and a restaurant.
One of the highlights of this campsite is its proximity to the city center. We could easily reach it by bike, even in the evening. If you prefer not to cycle, you can take advantage of the campsite’s shuttle bus, which runs multiple times a day. Quite luxurious, right?
For a beautiful beach, you need to travel a bit further, but I believe the campsite also offers a shuttle bus service for that.
We paid 18 euros for a pitch with electricity during the low season.
